On Bonaire, where the reef is shallow and you want to stay down, that makes a real difference. The Enriched Air Nitrox specialty is theory-heavy and usually completed in half a day or less. You learn how enriched air mixes work, how to analyze your tank before a dive, and how to plan dives safely on nitrox. No training dives required for the certification. Nitrox tanks are available at Wanderlust. You can start using the certification the same day you earn it.
Most people who get certified at home spend their first real dive trip adjusting. Different visibility, colder water, unfamiliar conditions. On Bonaire, your training dives happen on the same reef you'll dive independently afterward. You get certified and comfortable in one trip. Nothing to re-learn the next time you come back.
