A full day in the water with Stephan: techniques, positioning, and what the evaluation actually looks for. Most candidates arrive with the theory solid. The Prep Day is where theory becomes execution. Wanderlust is the only SSI Instructor Training Center on Bonaire. When you train here, no other ITC groups are running at the same time. Groups of four at most. Every part of the program runs around what you specifically need to work on. Individual debrief every evening. You know exactly where to focus before the next day starts. The Instructor Examination is run by a certified SSI examiner with no ties to Wanderlust. The certificate you earn is a real one.

Wanderlust is the only SSI Instructor Training Center on the island, so your program runs without competing for boat space, pool time, or instructor attention with other groups.
The $550 IE fee is paid directly to SSI for all three tiers — it's not part of the course price. All three tiers lead to the same SSI Open Water Instructor certification. The difference is preparation and what you can teach from day one.

SSI Divemasters with a minimum of 100 logged dives who want to become instructors. Divemaster certification from SSI or equivalent agency required. Contact us before enrolling to confirm any specialty certification requirements for your intended teaching scope.

ITC Essential is the core 10-day training. ITC Pro adds an Online Prep Course and a full In-water Prep Day the day before training starts. ITC Complete adds Night, Deep, Navigation, and React Right Instructor credentials on top of ITC Pro. All three lead to the same SSI Open Water Instructor certification. The difference is preparation and what you can teach from day one.
The ITC Pro runs 10–12 days total: Prep Day, 10 training days, and the 2-day IE. Plan roughly two weeks on Bonaire to include travel time on either end.
Maximum 4 candidates per ITC. Small groups are intentional. With four people, the feedback quality and individual attention cannot be matched in a larger setting. Some sessions run with fewer.
You need to be a certified Divemaster (SSI, PADI, or equivalent from a recognized agency), have logged at least 100 dives, and be 18 or older. First aid and CPR certification is required before the IE, not before day one of training.
